Ingredients

1 cup Masoor Dal

1 no. Onion (chopped)

1 tsp Clarified Butter (Ghee)

1 tsp Cumin Seeds

1 tsp Ginger-Garlic Paste

1 tsp Turmeric Powder

1 tsp Red Chilli Powder

to taste Salt

1 tsp Garam masala Powder (Hot Spices)

Soak the masoor dal in water for 30 minutes to ensure it cooks quickly.

Add 1–2 teaspoons of ghee to a hot pan.

Once the ghee is hot, add the cumin seeds and onions. Sauté until the onions become slightly transparent.

Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and turmeric powder, mixing well.

Add the soaked masoor dal to the pan and mix. Add the red chili powder and salt to taste.

Pour in a small amount of water—just enough to keep the consistency slightly grainy—and cook for 2–3 minutes until the lentils are tender.

Turn off the heat and stir in the freshly ground garam masala.
