Ingredients

1 cup Basmati Rice

200 g Green Peas

1 tbsp Clarified Butter (Ghee)

2 tsp Oil

2 large Onion (sliced)

2 piece Green Chilli

1 piece Ginger

4 cloves Garlic

Diluted Coconut Milk: 1 1/4 cups (can substitute with regular water)

1 tsp Salt

Mint Leaves: A few (optional)

1 piece Bay Leaf

1 small Cinnamon Stick

2 piece Cloves

2 piece Green Cardamoms

1 tsp Cumin Seeds

Instructions

Wash the basmati rice a couple of times and soak it in water for 30 minutes.

Pulse green chillies, a piece of ginger, and garlic cloves to form a coarse paste.

In a pressure cooker, add ghee and oil.

Add the bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, and cumin seeds to the heated fat.

Add thinly sliced large onions and slit green chillies. Sauté until the onions turn transparent.

Stir in the prepared ginger-garlic-chili paste and cook briefly.

Add fresh peas and salt. Sauté the peas for about five minutes.

Add the soaked rice and gently mix. After two minutes, pour in the diluted coconut milk (or regular water).

Add a few mint leaves if desired for extra flavor.

Once steam begins to build, place the weight on the cooker and cook for one whistle on medium flame.
