Ingredients

For the Cake:

2 cups All-Purpose Flour (Maida)

3 tsp Baking Powder

1 tsp Salt

1 cup Sugar

2 tbsp Orange Zest

3 cup Orange Juice

1 tbsp Vanilla Extract

1 cup Vegetable Oil

3 no. Egg

For the Glaze:

1 cup Powdered Sugar

A few tbsp Orange Juice

1 piece Orange Zest

Instructions

Step 1Preparation

1

Preheat your oven to 350°F.

2

Grease an 8x4-inch loaf pan with butter or baking spray and dust lightly with a tablespoon of flour.

Step 2Preparing the Dry Ingredients

1

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.

Step 3Creating the Orange-Sugar Base

1

In a separate bowl, place the sugar and orange zest.

2

Use your hands to rub the zest into the sugar until the mixture resembles wet sand and becomes fragrant.

3

This step releases the orange oils for maximum flavor.

Step 4Mixing the Batter

1

To the orange-sugar mixture, add the fresh orange juice, vanilla extract, and vegetable oil. Whisk until smooth.

2

Add the room-temperature eggs and whisk again until fully combined.

3

Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients using a spatula or dough whisk.

4

Mix only until no streaks of flour remain; do not overmix.

Step 5Baking

1

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.

2

Bake at 350°F for approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

3

If the top browns too quickly, cover it loosely with foil.

4

Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer it to a serving dish to cool completely until it is just slightly warm.

Step 6Glazing

1

In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, fresh orange juice, and a bit of orange zest until you reach a drizzling consistency.

2

Liberally drizzle the glaze over the top of the cooled cake.
