Ingredients

9 cloves Garlic

Bread : 1 loaf of supermarket-style Italian bread

6 tbsp Unsalted Butter

2 tbsp Processed Cheese

to taste Salt

to taste Black Pepper

Instructions

1

Place the garlic cloves, still in their papery skins, into a small skillet over medium heat.

2

Toast them for 8–10 minutes, jostling the pan occasionally, until the skins are spotty brown and the cloves inside have softened.

3

Carefully cut your supermarket-style Italian loaf in half lengthwise, ensuring an even thickness across the bread.

4

Peel the toasted skins off the garlic cloves. Place the cloves on a cutting board, sprinkle with a pinch of salt to act as an abrasive, and chop them into rough pieces.

5

Use the side of your knife to scrape and mash the garlic against the board until it forms a smooth paste.

6

In a bowl, combine the garlic paste with the unsalted butter.

7

Add a little extra salt to taste and mix in the Parmesan cheese until well combined.

8

Evenly spread about half of the garlic butter mixture onto the cut side of your bread.

9

Place the bread on a sheet pan and bake in a preheated, 500°F oven.

10

Bake for approximately 8 minutes, spinning the pan halfway through to ensure the bread browns evenly.

11

Remove from the oven, finish with a light sprinkle of salt and pepper, and slice into pieces to serve while hot.
