Ingredients

4 cups Whole Wheat Flour

2 cups Warm Water

1 tsp Salt

2 tsp Dry Yeast

1 tsp Sugar

Instructions

1

In a large measuring cup, combine the very warm water with the instant yeast and sugar.

2

Stir well until dissolved and let it sit for 5–10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.

3

In a large mixing bowl, stir together the whole wheat flour and salt.

4

Pour the activated yeast mixture into the flour.

5

Stir until the flour has fully absorbed the water. If the dough feels too wet, add a little more flour; if it feels too dry, add a splash of water.

6

Gently turn the dough over with your hand to bring it all together.

7

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface.

8

Briefly pull and fold the dough into a ball, then flatten it slightly and roll it into a loaf shape.

9

Place the dough into a greased 8” x 5” loaf pan (lined with parchment paper for easy removal).

10

Cover it lightly with plastic wrap and allow it to rise until the dough reaches just above the rim of the pan.

11

While the dough rises, preheat your oven to 400°F.

12

Bake the loaf on the middle oven rack for 40 minutes.

13

The bread is done when it is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

14

If using a thermometer, the internal temperature should reach about 190°F.

15

Place the bread on a cooling rack for 5 minutes. Remove it from the pan and let it cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing
