Ingredients

1 tbsp Butter

1 tsp Mustard Seeds

small Curry Leaves

2 piece Green Chilli

1 tsp Asafoetida Powder (Hing)

small Coriander Leaves (chopped)

1 piece Onion (chopped)

1 tbsp Coriander Leaves (finely chopped)

1 piece Tomatoes (puréed)

1 tsp Turmeric Powder

1 tsp Red Chilli Powder

to taste Salt

1 cup Water

1 tsp Lemon Juice

4 piece Bread

Instructions

1

Start by heating a tablespoon of butter in a pan. Once the butter has completely melted, add the seasoning: 1/2 teaspoon of mustard seeds.

2

Once the mustard seeds begin spluttering, add curry leaves, 2 slit and deseeded green chillies, 1/4 teaspoon of asafoetida, a small amount of coriander leaves, and one finely chopped onion. Stir the mixture, ensuring the onions become translucent without turning brown.

3

Incorporate 1 tablespoon of finely chopped garlic into the pan.

4

Add 1 and 1/2 deseeded, chopped tomatoes to the pan. Mix well and incorporate the seasonings: 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder, 1/2 teaspoon of red chilli powder, and salt to taste. Continue cooking until the tomatoes are soft.

5

Add 1/2 cup of water and 1/2 lemon's juice to the pan. Allow the mixture to boil until the water has partially dried out, which prevents the bread from becoming too mushy.

6

Add 4 pavs (or approximately 6-8 bread slices) cut into 1/2-inch pieces. Toss everything together until the bread is thoroughly coated with the masala mixture.

7

Add fresh coriander leaves and mix one final time. The dish can be served hot, optionally garnished with sev and additional coriander.
