Ingredients

300 Whole Wheat Flour

160 Water

75 Butter

2 tbsp Vegetable Oil

1 tbsp Sugar

3 tsp Baking Powder

1 tsp Salt

Mixed herbs (1 tsp)

Peprika (1/4 tsp)

Instructions

1

Preheat your oven to 180°C (360°F) for a fan oven or 200°C (400°F) for a conventional oven.

2

Combine the wholemeal flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, paprika, and mixed herbs in a mixing bowl.

3

Add the butter pieces to the flour mixture. Rub them together with your hands until the texture resembles coarse sand or breadcrumbs and no large pieces of butter remain.

4

Create a well in the center of the mixture. Pour in the water and vegetable oil, then mix until a smooth dough forms.

5

Transfer the dough to a surface and knead it gently for about 2 minutes to ensure everything is well combined.

6

Take about one-third of the dough and roll it out onto a sheet of baking paper until it is very thin, ideally less than 2 mm (1/16").

7

Cut the dough into your desired shapes. Remove any excess dough, and use a fork to prick the shapes all over, which helps them bake evenly.

8

Transfer the shapes on the paper to a baking tray and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until they begin to brown.

9

Allow the crackers to cool. Once cooled, test them; if they are still soft in the middle, return them to the baking tray and bake for an additional 5 minutes until firm.
